The Future of Whitehill Club

Here’s a bit more information about the future development & use of the Whitehill Club site on the A325 just south of Bordon towards Greatham. In the dim distant past the club and grounds supported, cricket, outdoor bowls, football, darts, other indoor leisure activities and more recently archery.

The fire (almost 25 years ago) was followed by an attempt to rebuild the club house, but this failed due to funding and insurance issues, although it did get as far as seeing the main slab and steel frame works being erected. The designs and plans for the replacement were all passed through the local authorities and, subject to funding being found, will be resurrected substantially using the original planning permission and subsequent building regulations inspection in 2003 +/-.

During 2021 the ownership of the club site was legally transferred from the trustees of the old Whitehill Club to the Whitehill Bordon Town Partnership and its parent organisation the Whitehill Bordon Community Association. Since that time work has begun in the background, working towards getting the site back into community use for leisure & recreation use.

There is an online survey allowing local residents & employers have their say, and we’d encourage everyone to complete it if you are a local resident. We’ve had been nearly 500 responses to date, but there’s always room for more. The survey form also provides you with the opportunity to sign up for any future information updates.

Bordon's Local Amateur Theatre Group

Forest Players is a vibrant amateur theatre group based at the Forest Community Centre in Bordon. We welcome both adults and young performers, offering a friendly and inclusive environment for anyone with a passion for singing, dancing, or acting.

Our adult company rehearses on Sundays from 6-10 pm, while our youth company, for those under 16, meets on Sundays from 5-6 pm.

We perform a wide variety of shows, including Murder Mysteries, Pantomimes, Farces, Variety Shows, and Musicals, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. No audition is required to join Forest Players, and you don’t need any prior experience—just a love for performing!

Phoenix Twirlstars

Members of the International Baton Twirling Association

Bordon based baton twirling team; Phoenix Twirlstars are a team of twirlers aged 6 years upwards.

If you are interested in learning a new skill and would like to find out more about baton twirling which includes marching, twirling, dance, gymnastics and pom pom dance, then please contact us.

Phoenix Twirlstars train at the Forest Community Centre Bordon every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm onwards.

We are excited to keep developing and growing to continue to build our team. Our waiting list for taking new members is open with a view to new recruits starting early December.

Steady & Strong Exercise Class

Physical activity, including strength and balance, is vital for healthy ageing

Steady and Strong classes teach exercises to improve strength and balance which help you to live independently and actively for longer. The exercises in the classes also help to prevent falls. They can help you with everyday actions such as:

Getting out of a chair, a car or a bath
Picking things up from the floor
Walking up and down stairs
Staying steady when walking

All Steady and Strong instructors are specially trained to teach exercises which help to prevent falls in older people.

Class information

The class is 1 hour. It consists of a warm-up, strengthening and balance exercises, some fitness and coordination exercises, followed by a cool down. We have refreshments and a chat afterwards.

What to wear

Loose, comfortable clothing
Trousers rather than a skirt or a dress
Flat-heeled shoes that provide support and grip
Layers so that you can remove a layer as you get warmer.

What to bring

Bottle of water

Light snack

Any medications you may need that have been prescribed to you e.g. sprays or inhalers.

Top tip: Avoid eating for an hour.

Whitehill & Bordon Gardening Club

A friendly club which meets monthly at 7:30pm on the third Wednesday of each month at FCC

We host interesting and amusing talks on various aspects of gardens and gardening. We also hold other events for members at the Forest Community Centre and in member's gardens, and arrange visits to gardens of interest to members including RHS Wisley.

No meetings/activities are held in August.
